BHA Confirms Jump Programme Amendments: Kempton Race Moved to Carlisle

The BHA has announced the transfer of the Panoramic Hurdle to Carlisle and the cancellation of a Beginners' Chase due to course conditions.

  • The Listed Panoramic Hurdle is transferred from Kempton to Carlisle on 22 October.
  • A Beginners' Chase at Carlisle has been cancelled due to ground conditions.
  • The BHA was unable to find replacements for the abandoned Kempton and Fakenham fixtures.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has announced further adjustments to the jump racing programme following the abandonment of the Kempton fixture scheduled for 18 October. The Listed Panoramic Hurdle will now be hosted at Carlisle on Thursday 22 October instead. In conjunction with this move, the BHA has confirmed the cancellation of the Beginners' Chase at Carlisle. This decision follows a course inspection which indicated that the ground conditions were not suitable for attracting a sufficient field for this specific type of contest.

This outcome was anticipated by officials, as evidenced by the recent addition of an extra fixture at Perth on Thursday 15 October, which features a two-mile Beginners' Chase to provide alternative opportunities for participants. Those intending to enter horses for the Perth fixture should note that the entry deadline is Friday 9 October.

Regarding other scheduling challenges, the BHA has stated that it thoroughly explored options to replace the abandoned Kempton meeting as well as the fixture that was set to take place at Fakenham on Friday 16 October. Unfortunately, identifying viable replacements for these dates has not been possible. The governing body has reiterated its commitment to supporting the successful delivery of the wider jump race programme and continues to assess potential options for future adjustments. Further updates will be provided by the sport's governing body in due course. This information is based on a British Horseracing Authority (BHA) press release: BHA press release.
