- Worcester granted an additional fixture on Sunday 1 November to replace a previously lost date.
- Fakenham’s meeting on 2 November is abandoned, with the season start delayed until 22 November.
- Newbury’s fixture on 5 November is converted to an all-Hurdle card to protect the racing surface.
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has announced a series of strategic changes to the upcoming Jump racing programme, citing the impact of recent weather conditions on course preparation. Most notably, Fakenham’s scheduled meeting on Monday 2 November has been abandoned following a formal inspection. The BHA Course Inspector, alongside track management, determined that the reseeded areas of the course require more time to recover from a dry summer. Consequently, the track’s season is now set to commence on Sunday 22 November, with an additional fixture added to the calendar for that date.
To bolster the programme, an extra fixture has been confirmed for Worcester on Sunday 1 November. Tom Byrne, BHA Head of Racing and Betting, explained that this addition serves to replace a fixture lost during the red weather warnings in June, noting that Worcester has consistently attracted strong fields throughout the season. The race programme for this meeting is currently being finalised and will be published shortly.
Elsewhere, track conditions have necessitated a revision at Newbury. Their meeting on Thursday 5 November will now feature an all-Hurdle card. The two scheduled Steeple Chases have been abandoned and replaced by a single Hurdle race, a move designed to allow groundstaff to concentrate on presenting the most suitable racing surface given the current ground conditions. The BHA continues to work closely with participants and racecourses to monitor the evolving situation and ensure the viability of the jump season. Further updates will be issued as necessary.
