BHA Confirms Rescheduling of Newbury Stakes Races to Newmarket

The BHA has rescheduled the St Simon and Horris Hill Stakes to Newmarket following the abandonment of Newbury's fixture on 24 October 2026.

  • The St Simon Stakes and Horris Hill Stakes have been rescheduled following the abandonment of Newbury's Saturday meeting.
  • The St Simon Stakes will be held at Newmarket on Friday 30 October with a £75,000 prize fund.
  • The Horris Hill Stakes will take place at Newmarket on Saturday 31 October and has been opened to all sexes.

Following the unfortunate abandonment of the fixture scheduled for Newbury on Saturday 24 October 2026, the British Horseracing Authority has confirmed the successful rescheduling of two key Group 3 contests. The St Simon Stakes is set to take place at the Rowley Mile in Newmarket on Friday 30 October, carrying a total prize fund of £75,000. The Horris Hill Stakes will also be hosted at Newmarket, moving to the following day, Saturday 31 October, with a total prize fund of £50,000.

As part of these adjustments, the Horris Hill Stakes has been modified from a colts and geldings race to an all-sex event. This change accounts for the loss of the Listed Radley Stakes, which was originally scheduled at Newbury for fillies over the same distance. The BHA has expressed its gratitude to The Jockey Club for accommodating these two races into their upcoming fixture programme at Newmarket and acknowledged the contribution of the Horserace Betting Levy Board toward the total prize funding.
