Insight

Favourites had a mixed afternoon, obliging in three races but failing to justify their market position in the remaining five. The most notable upset came in the final race of the day, where Dreambird Dolly (GB) defied odds of 17.00 to score for trainer John Gallagher.

The 38% favourite strike rate highlights the competitive nature of the handicaps at Brighton, particularly in the later stages of the card where short-priced contenders often struggled to get their heads in front.
